Put My Home on my phone like an app
This works best on your phone.
- On your phone, go to app.myhomebooklet.com and sign in.
- You'll see the steps for your phone right here.
- On this computer, you can bookmark this page.
What do I do first?
- Open My Home → Edit and add your closing date and builder. Your warranty countdown fills in by itself.
- Save where your water shutoff and breaker panel are in Home facts.
- Add your builder or home warranty company to Contacts.
- When something needs fixing, log it in Issues with photos.
My Home
Add or change my closing date and builder
Tap My Home → Edit. Leave the warranty end dates blank and we fill in typical terms (1, 2 and 10 years for new construction). Check your warranty booklet and change them if yours are different.
What is the 11-month walkthrough?
Builders usually look at your home again around month 11, so anything you find is fixed before the 1-year workmanship warranty ends. My Home shows a reminder when it's time to schedule it. Log what you find in Issues before the visit.
I bought a resale home
Choose Resale in My Home → Edit. If you got a home warranty plan at closing, add the company and we'll count down to the end of the plan (usually 1 year).
Issues
Log an issue
Go to Issues → Log an issue. Give it a short name, pick the room, and add photos. Each photo keeps the date it was taken, so you have proof of when you noticed it.
Add an update (status, dates, photos)
Open the issue and use Add an update: change the status (Reported, Repair scheduled, Fixed), add the repair date, a note, or more photos. Everything goes on the issue's timeline.
Send an issue to my builder, warranty or insurance company
Open the issue and use Email me a report to forward. Pick who it's for, and we email you a report with your photos attached. Forward that email from your own email, so the company can match it to your account. Then tap I sent it so your timeline shows when you reported it.
The app never emails the company for you.
Delete a photo or an issue
Open the issue. Under the photos, tick the ones to remove. To delete the whole issue, use Delete at the bottom of the issue.
Contacts
Add a company or person
Go to Contacts → Add a contact. Add their email and phone, your account or policy number, and the claims website if they have one. Reports to that company will include your account number.
What is "Recommended by Olivia"?
A short list of local pros Olivia Pelton has worked with. Tap Save to contacts to keep one. You're never required to use them.
Home facts
What goes in Home facts?
The things you hunt for in an emergency or at the hardware store: where the shutoffs are (with photos), furnace filter size, water heater and A/C details, paint colors, and appliance model and serial numbers. Open Home facts and fill in what you know.
Account
How do I sign in?
Enter your email on the sign-in page. We email you a button and a 6-digit code. Tap the button, or type the code into the app. On a new phone or computer you'll also enter your own security code.
Change my security code
Go to Account → Change my code. You'll need your current code.
Choose which reminder emails I get
Go to Account → Reminder emails and untick any you don't want. Every reminder email also has a "Stop these emails" link.
How much can I store?
Each booklet includes 500 MB of storage, about 1,000 photos. Photos are resized when you add them. See how much you've used on your Account page. Need more? Contact us.
Download everything
Go to Account → Download everything for one file with your home details, a PDF for every issue, all your photos and your contacts.
Delete my account
Go to Account → Delete my account. Everything is permanently erased. Download a copy first if you'd like to keep your records.
Fix it
I didn't get the sign-in email
It can take a minute. Check your spam or promotions folder. Still nothing? Make sure you typed your email the same way you used before, then ask for a new one. You can ask for up to 3 in 15 minutes.
The button in the email opened a different browser
No problem: type the 6-digit code from the email into the app instead. The code works in the browser where you asked for it.
It keeps asking me to sign in
Each browser keeps its own sign-in, so Safari and Edge (or Chrome) are like two different devices. Pick one browser and stick with it, or put My Home on your Home Screen. You stay signed in for a year.
I forgot my security code
For your safety we never reset it by email. Contact us, and we'll confirm it's you another way before resetting it.
My account is locked
After 5 wrong security codes, the account locks for 30 minutes and we email you. Wait 30 minutes and try again. If it wasn't you, change your email password.
A photo won't upload
Try fewer photos at a time (up to 20). If your booklet is full, delete photos you don't need. Very large photos, or a weak signal, can also fail; try again on Wi-Fi.
